Benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Ohio Cobra Club sold raffle tickets for $50 each for a chance to win a 427 SC Cobra replica. The lucky bloke who won the roadster was Ken Furguson of London, Ohio. Ken had quite a weekend. He had also entered a local golf tournament and was in first place, with the final round to be held the following day. After winning the Cobra, we doubt Ken cared about the golf tourney. Congratulations!

Always present throughout the day was the smell of burning rubber as participants lit up their rear tires. For the privilege of blasting off a 1/4-mile pass, each drag racer contributed $10 toward Cystic Fibrosis research. Notice the police officers standing by without writing tickets? | Cobra #17 took on a passenger and made $20 toward finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. | Many of the Cobras participating were of the wide-hipped 427 body style, though we did see a few 289s replete with wire wheels. Classic lines never go out of fashion. |
At the Shell Valley Motorsports display there were a number of spectacular customer cars resting between taking 1/4-mile passes. | Drawing a crowd the entire event, Shell Valley showed a cutaway Cobra, which enabled Cobra fans to appreciate all the unique features of Shell Valley's 427-bodied roadster. | Roadsters comprised most of the vehicles participating, but there were some scintillating Coupes on hand as well. Here's a fresh one out for its first event. |
The maroon Superformance Cobra on the left and the blue one on the right appeared ready for any road course the world around. | Radio DJ Daddy Wags of QFM 96, the most popular DJ in central Ohio, presented a Harley-Davidson motorcycle to the Madison County Sheriff's Department, while select officers of the Ohio Cobra Club waited their turn to say a few words. | It sure looks like someone said something funny. That's Ohio Cobra Club President Rick Dorman with his hand up making a humorous remark. |
At the Factory Five Racing display participants drooled over the finished Type 65 Coupe (in the background) and the artful Cobra rolling/running chassis. | | |
 | For the first time Ken Furguson fired up his new Cobra 427 SC replicar. The gentlemen behind him are the talented and resourceful build team of the giveaway roadster: Doug Kinemond, Nick Zeyen, and Bill Dyer, left to right respectively. | Carving corners at most rapid speed was the order of the day for Sunday's autocross event. We witnessed this yellow Cobra negotiating the cones on several occasions. With practice, the roadster's pilot managed to improve his cornering prowess. |
While the roadster driver in the foreground makes mincemeat of the first part of the autocross course, Dean Rosen, owner of Dynamic Motorsports, a Superformance and Noble dealership in Ross, Ohio, is finishing off the circuit in a Superformance Daytona Coupe. | What would an autocross event be without the new FFR GTM supercar taking on the twisties? Answer: incomplete. | The racer piloting the FFR spec roadster reputedly had the lowest ETA, in the 35-second range. |
With a reading in the low 36-second range, second best time went to Dean Rosen of Dynamic Motorsports and 1g Racing, distributor for the Noble supercar. | Every so often the planets align and there's an eclipse of Cobras caught on one autocross course. Cobras look best when they're at speed. | Kei and Miki Iinuma and their Shelby American 289 street Cobra came all the way from their home in Honolulu, Hawaii, to be a part of the London Cobra Show. They also came out for the Shelby American Automobile Club convention held at Virginia International Raceway June 30-July 2. |
